This video explains all the toxic effects of alcohol especially on liver metabolism. Chronic intake of alcohol leads to several metabolic changes in the hepatocytes which turn leads to hyperlipidemia, lactic acidosis, ketoacidosis, hyperuricemia, hypoglycemia, fatty liver disease (fatty steatosis). There is increased levels of NADH and decreased NAD which causes all the changes in the metabolic pathways in the hepatocyte in chronic alcoholic. Prolonged intake of alcohol thus leads to elevation of acetaldehyde and NADH, and causes all the toxic effects.
